Timeless Philadelphia weddings along the Delaware River
As a Glen Foerd wedding photographer, there’s something especially meaningful about documenting weddings at a venue that has been part of my own story too. I’ll never forget driving up to Glen Foerd for the first time while planning my own wedding in 2010 and being awed by the gorgeous façade.
Tucked along the Delaware River, the estate immediately felt timeless, with its grand architecture, sweeping waterfront views, and quiet elegance throughout the grounds. It was one of those rare venues that felt both impressive and deeply personal at the same time.
Years later, photographing weddings at Glen Foerd on the Delaware still feels just as special. One of my favorite parts of the property is the stunning getting ready space, drenched in natural light from the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the river. Between the waterfront ceremony locations, the historic mansion, and the way the Delaware curves around the property, every part of the estate photographs beautifully throughout the day.

Why Couples Love Glen Foerd
One of the best things about Glen Foerd is how many different experiences the property offers throughout a wedding day. From the moment you arrive, the estate feels peaceful and tucked away, while still being just minutes from center city Philadelphia.
The bridal suite inside the mansion is one of my favorites anywhere in the area. The tall ceilings, antique furniture, and floor-to-ceiling windows fill the rooms with soft natural light that photographs beautifully all day long.
There is no shortage of variety of locations for portraits. The vast lawn overlooking the Delaware River, the rose garden, the spacious front porch, and the estate itself all create completely different backdrops without ever needing to leave the property.
Every direction you turn feels elegant and timeless.
Couples have a few beautiful options when it comes to ceremony locations at Glen Foerd. One of the most iconic setups places the ceremony just behind the mansion, where the walk down the aisle is framed by the historic estate and the vows take place overlooking the Delaware River.
Other ceremony locations throughout the lawn offer a more garden-inspired feel while still keeping the waterfront views that make Glen Foerd so special.
After the ceremony, cocktail hour flows between the riverside lawns and the interior mansion spaces, allowing guests to experience both the waterfront setting and the historic charm Glen Foerd is known for. From the antique architectural details to the second-floor art gallery, the mansion itself becomes part of the experience before the evening continues into the reception tent.
Glen Foerd is entering an exciting new chapter, with renowned Philadelphia caterer Cescaphe taking over the venue beginning in Spring 2027. Plans for a new permanent reception space on the south lawn will bring an updated experience to the estate while still preserving the historic character that makes Glen Foerd so special.
The new reception tent is expected to feature soaring ceilings, elegant lighting, wood flooring, and sweeping views of the river and grounds, blending the feel of a luxury estate wedding with the beauty of an outdoor waterfront celebration.
