Frequently Asked Questions

How would you describe your style?

My goal on your wedding day is to capture your story. I focus on capturing each moment as they unfold, beautifully photographing all the details that you’ve carefully selected, and creating timeless, classic portraits that show the love you share.

What is your background? How long have you been in business?

I first started my own business in 2006. Growing up I always wanted to be a photographer. I took my first photography class as a high school sophomore, then went on to study photography in college. I studied Commercial Advertising and Portrait Photography at Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California. I shot my first wedding while still in school and I’ve been a full time wedding photographer since I finished school in 2004.  I’ve shot hundreds of weddings in 18 states (including Hawaii) and Mexico. I’m always thrilled to shoot in a new location that I’ve never been to.

Where are you located and do you travel?

I’m located in the Philadelphia suburbs and shoot primarily in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and New York. I’m happy to travel anywhere for a wedding! Custom packages are available for destination weddings. Please inquire with your specific details for a custom quote.

Is an engagement session included? When should we do it?

Most of my packages include an engagement session. I think having an engagement sessions is a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera and get a feel for how I like to work.  Plus, you get great images of a very special time in your life. Many people like to use the images for Save The Dates – if that is the case you’ll want to schedule your session 6 months to a year before the wedding.  Please keep in mind that my weekend availability is very limited. If you’re available during the week please consider booking your session on a weekday.

Do you work with a second shooter?

Yes, all of my packages include a second shooter. Since I can only be in one place at one time this allows me to offer you more complete coverage. I use trusted, professional photographers with a similar style to myself as my second shooters.

Do you take formal family portraits? Can I give you a shot list?

Of course! I send all my clients a questionnaire before the wedding that will ask for a list of all the people who need to be included in the formal family photos, as well as any other important details I should know about. From that I will have all the information I need to create a photography timeline and shot list.

How many images will we receive? Will they be retouched?

You can expect to receive about 100 images per hour of coverage. All images are carefully adjusted for color balance, contrast, and exposure. Select images will also be converted to black and white.

Should we see each other before the wedding?

If you are not having a long break between the ceremony and reception, I would definitely recommend it. Having a first look with your fiancé is a wonderful time to get amazing, emotional images. Having your formal portraits complete before the ceremony allows plenty of time so there is no need to be rushed, and can allow you to visit more locations for portraits. This also allows you to join your guests for cocktail hour (my personal favorite part of any wedding!).

How long will it take to see the images?

The first place you will see your images is on my Facebook page and Instagram where I will post a few favorites within a few days of your wedding. Approximately 4-6 weeks after the wedding I will post a blog highlighting the entire story of your day. Proofs will be posted online in a password protected site within 16 weeks after the wedding, and at that time your flash drive will go out in the mail as well.

What is the payment schedule?

I require a $1500 retainer to hold the date, then 50% of the remaining balance is due 90 days out, and the final payment is due 30 days before the wedding. I will send you automatic reminder emails for all your payments. I accept credit cards and checks for all payments.

Do we get a copy of the high resolution digital files?

Yes, along with a print release and a photo lab recommendation for your printing needs.

How does the album process work?

If your package includes an album, I will create a custom album design for you. The design will be presented in an online interface where you can note any comments or changes you would like made. Once the design is finalized, you’ll make your selections for your cover and other customizations.

Do you have insurance?

Yes, I am fully insured. If your venue requires proof of insurance please let me know.

What kind of equipment do you use?

I use professional level Canon cameras and lenses, with back up equipment in case of equipment failure.

Do we need to feed you at the reception?

Yes, please! Eight hours is a long time to go without eating, and I get cranky when I’m hungry. 🙂 The best time for us to eat is while you’re eating (you don’t want picture’s of that anyway!). Please ask your venue to feed us during dinner, rather than after all the guests are served, so we have an opportunity to finish eating before reception events continue.

What happens if we go over the contracted amount of time?

If things are running late I’m happy to stay for additional coverage, at your request and with your permission, for the hourly rate specified in your contract.
