Last month I joined my friend Erik Matey as a second shooter to for Kari & Joel’s wedding. I love having the opportunity to second shoot because it allows me to see the whole wedding in a different way. When I’m not under pressure to get all the shoots I need, it allows me the freedom to take my time and see things from a new perspective. It can be a very inspiring experience. Here are a few favorites from Kari and Joel’s wedding at Normandy Farms:
I began off the day with Joel and the guys getting ready. The guys all worse these awesome chucks:

I also joined Erik for some last minute portraits of Kari before their first look.

While I was with Joel getting ready he seemed very nervous, which I thought was sweet, and I mentioned it to Kari… which made her even more nervous (oops!). When the saw each other for the first time the nerves melted away.

It was an absolutely freezing January day, but Kari was such a trooper to do a few portraits outside. We had the most gorgeous blue sky.

At this point Erik was taking some portraits of Kari and I slipped behind the marble bar to catch another angle, and noticed how great the reflection was. One of my favorites.

Generally as the first shooter I’m set up at the front of the aisle to catch the bride coming down it, but as the second shooter I had the opportunity to stay in the back and get the last moments of of Kari with her dad before she walked down the aisle. Another favorite!

Love the tears in Kari’s eyes here, she was so emotional and it was very sweet.

Thanks to Erik for having me as a second shooter!
At the beginning of the year I decided to participate in a fun project called #instagram366 where you use one of my favorite iPhone apps, Instagram, to take a picture each day of the year. My goal is to find something beautiful each day. Each month I will post a collage of all the image here on my blog, so all of you, my blog readers, will get to know me a bit better through pictures.
January was a challenge for me because many days I didn’t even leave my house (my dog was featured 3 days lol). I’m exited to continue this project throughout the year and document upcoming travels, weddings, and personal adventures.
In this first month I did cheat a couple of times… first I used a picture I took on my honeymoon in October (the beach shot), and then one day took a screen shot of a baby session I was working on on my computer that I had taken with my professional SLR camera. From here on out I will be using only images taken that day and with my iPhone. If you’d like to join in you can find me on Instagram @ashleybphoto and read my comments on each photo.

I was so excited to meet Zachary, who is the second child of one Mark’s closest friends from college. We met him for the first time when he was just a few days old at the hospital, and I did a quick session with him when we visited at home at 6 days old. He was such a trooper and slept the entire time!

Sweet little baby toes.

My favorite. I’m a sucker for silly baby hats.

Every newborns favorite spot, snuggled up with mom
