Bridget & Kevin: New Year’s Eve Union League Wedding

On New Year’s Eve I had the pleasure of shooting the wonderfully unique and playful wedding of Bridget and Kevin at The Union League in Philadelphia. Mark of The Queen of Hearts Wedding Consultants did a fabulous job with the wedding planning, especially considering Bridget and Kevin planned most of the wedding from their home in Belgium!

Bridget and Kevin met two years ago on New Year’s Day at The Mummers Parade, so a New Year’s Eve wedding was so fitting for this couple. Their personalities really shined through every detail of the day.

The beautiful Union League, such a great venue.

Some of Bridget’s gorgeous details…

I particularly loved these shoes (worn for the reception) because they remind me of my own wedding shoes 🙂

Kevin and Bridget opted to see each other before their ceremony to get all their pictures out of the way so they could enjoy cocktail hour. Here is their first look:

After a few emotional minutes we took advantage of the property and it’s location in the city for some portraits.

Their ceremony was a bit different than most. For one, Kevin and the bridal part danced down the aisle with umbrellas. This really set the tone for the evening and the room was stirring with energy.

Bridget being walked down the aisle by her mom.

Kevin’s dad officiated the ceremony, LOVE that! So personal and sweet.

Love the expression on Kevin’s face here. They were oozing love for each other, makes my job so easy 🙂

During the ceremony rather than doing a traditional unity ceremony like a candle or sand ceremony, the couple put together two halves of a walking stick – each side represented one of their separate lives. Then their moms carried it up the aisle and everyone had to limbo under it. So fun!

After the ceremony we did all the family portraits quickly so Kevin and Bridget could enjoy cocktail hour. I caught them kissing in their last moments alone – I’ve never seen such a kissy couple, love it!

The reception room was simple with just candles on the tables but it created a gorgeous, warm ambiance.

Their first dance started off slow and sweet but quickly burst alive into a medley of dance songs.

Thank you Bridget and Kevin for allowing me to capture your day! Check back soon – I’ll be updating with a slide show with more favorite images from the wedding.

A big thanks to Phil Mantas for coming out to second shoot this event with me! Happy New Year everyone!!
