Silke & Matt

This weekend I shot a beautiful, intimate wedding at the JW Marriott here in Vegas. It was a bit warm at 96° but we made it work by doing some of the portraits inside :)

Retouching: Before & After

When you hire a *good* photographer, their job doesn’t end after the click of the shutter. We spend hours after the wedding or photo shoot editing and retouching images so you only get the best possible results.

A photographer can be a big investment, but you’re paying not only for their time and talent behind the camera, but also their expertise after the pictures are taken… and its worth every penny!

Images come out of the camera looking a bit flat and lifeless, and a bit of photoshop help can really make them *pop*! Here are a few examples:

I cut my hair!

After more than a decade of having basically the same hair style, I now have bangs. Eek! I think it’s pretty cute, what do you all think?

ToAnh & Francis

Yesterday I shot a wedding here in Vegas the Stallion Mountain Country Club. As you can see, the bride was gorgeous and we had a beautiful day.

I am so excited because this is my first offical wedding of the ‘wedding season’ and I have weddings nearly every weekend now through November, so be sure to check back and see what I’ve been shooting!

Get Out and Shoot Friday

Yesterday was Get Out and Shoot Friday!! I DID get out and shoot, I just haven’t had a chance to edit them yet.. and I’m about to run out the door to shoot a wedding.

I will be sure to post them when I get back.. this week I headed out to an industrial park to get some interesteing ‘detail shots’. Check back tonight!

EDIT: Here they are, this was definately out of my comfort zone… but I tried! :)

BIG family portrait

On Easter I shot one BIG family portrait. We spent a couple hours and got each family unit, the whole big family of 27, and also some of just the kids. It was such a beautiful day, too. I hope they love them!

Get Out and Shoot Friday

It is so easy to become absorbed with dealing clients and running a business… I so very rarely shoot for *fun* anymore. Well that is going to change! Today is my first official “Get Out and Shoot Friday”. I’m going to commit to myself to make time and get off my butt every Friday to shoot something just for fun.

Today’s theme is *Spring*

Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep

A while back I signed up to volunteer with the organization Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep. NILMDTS is an organization that offers complimentary bereavement photography services to families dealing with the loss of a baby.

Today I got a call from a local hospital to come take photographs for a family that lost their baby. It is such a difficult experience for everyone involved, but I did it in hopes that my photographs will bring some sort of comfort and healing to the family.

For me personally it was a really difficult and emotional experience, but worth the effort if it gives the family a tiny silver lining in a devestating situation.

Art & Chris

Last weekend I shot engagement portraits for Art & Christina… their wedding is coming up in June, and I’m really looking forward to their wine theme I’ve heard so much about :) We headed out to Lake Las Vegas to do the shoot; I was disappointed that it was quite a bit overcast, be we made it work!
